Bridging Tacit Gaps in User Research: Allegory-Driven Elicitation and AI-Assisted Decoding

ICoRD 2027 · Springer · 2027

Yash A. Bhagat, Sylvan Lobo, Delwyn Remedios

This study asks two research questions: first, do conventional user research methods effectively elicit tacit knowledge and what are their limitations? and second, whether an allegory-based method can elicit tacit cues while preserving explicit data? A research-through-design process was used to develop M3, a three-phase activity-based interview targeting three complementary knowledge layers: comic-based visual prompts, behavioral reenactment, and allegory-driven displacement to surface relational and reflective tacit cues including knowledge transmission dynamics and emotional bonds to practice.

The Potential of Mixed Reality Companions for Navigation: A Systematic Literature Review

ICWIHI 2025 · Springer Nature · 2025

Yash A. Bhagat, Delwyn Jude Remedios

This research discusses how Mixed Reality (MR) companions may improve user experience in navigation to help overcome social loneliness. Current MR navigation solutions are not human-centered in their design or equipped with social skills, hence failing in real-world applications such as women's safety, language barriers, and social networking. Based on a Systematic Literature Review and a primary survey with young adults, findings suggest that MR companions can reduce cognitive load, enhance engagement through anthropomorphic design, and provide real-time, culturally sensitive assistance. They would enable safety, multilingual learning, and social interaction without supplanting human relationships.
